SimplyKyra Monthly Overview: July 2026

Welcome to the July SimplyKyra Monthly Overview. A once-a-month roundup of app updates, blog highlights, and a few extras from behind the scenes. Nothing too serious, just a cozy way to stay connected. 💕

🏡 This Month with Me

The kids' summer vacation is in full swing here which means my schedule looks less like a schedule and more like whatever window I can find. Which, as they're getting older, is somehow easier to find... and much harder.

This month included fireworks, one on one time with one kid when the other was in a camp, killing time in Olympia while the second one had a class, and navigating that murky area of the kids want to vibe, sleep in, Perler beads, and bake.... but we should really be taking advantage of the summer doing things outdoors and hanging out.

I've been working out less... mornings are for getting coding done before they're up with the rest of the day more interruptible but I'm still working through them. But I've still been finding time here and there. Currently discovered I can watch a show while going through pincha and handstand drills so taking it easier but still moving.

📱 App Updates

This month I spent most of my working time on my three main non-game apps and did more updates than I had realized... but I need to bump one thing to the top.

I found and fixed a backend issue that could have affected data syncing across my apps... if anything ever seemed to crash on open or stop syncing between your devices this should be the actual fix. And I'm currently working on a way to catch any fatal crash and easily one-click share it with me so we can catch and fix things faster going forward. And like always if you're still seeing any of that, please reply and let me know... I'd genuinely like to hear either way.

Simply TBR

Last month I announced Simply TBR... this month I updated it. I started by answering an email (thanks for reaching out) and added OPDS and Hardcover as connected sources to import more books... then linked StoryGraph and Hardcover to log a finished book. Then continued on to update the onboarding flow, sped up NetGalley's Author Watch, Genre filtering, and, through all these updates, many other minor adjustments and optimizations.

Simply Remember It

When did you last…? Now you know with no second-guessing required.

I started the month with a quieter update as I shared code with my other apps behind the scenes and fixed up some minor issues. Then my kid had an orthodontist expander that went from weekly expansion to twice a week... and I was tired of counting backwards to see if it had been three or four days... And added a day count between the entries. The app now counts for me.

Simply Customize It

Make your reMarkable truly yours with custom templates and screens.

Added the ability to default what and how you see in your browse views, fixed up multi-select deletion, and then added true one tap reMarkable recovery... with it you can toggle on and off recovery steps so when your reMarkable updates you can recover it with one button click... and a confirmation.

Games

There were no new updates for my other apps, Simply Uncover It and Simply Match It, this month but I have been eyeing them critically so there may be something soon. As always I keep an eye on emails and questions coming in… so feel free to keep them coming!

📚On the Blog

Nothing published this month. Nothing called to me to write, and I'd rather wait for the real thing than force one out. That said, I started a new kind of video content for Simply TBR this month and realized my reel editing process was more onerous than it should be... so I started a side journey in hopefully speeding up that process. It involves using a Bash script to combine two different tools and I'm still figuring it out... but let me know if you want to know more let me know and I can write it up.

💻 Coming Up Next

I started this month continuing to analyze the apps and started looking and creating an Android version of Simply Customize It. I'm also thinking about what content I can put out to help more people see my apps.

🌿 Something Extra

A handful of nature clips made it out this month: a foggy January morning that finally saw daylight, a short walk at Tumwater Falls from last winter, trees with sunlight coming through, and an unexpected deer at a flower farm with the kids. None of it is filler. Same thing every time... pause, notice, breathe.
