Simply Customize It 1.5.1: A Pause for reMarkable 3.30
This update is small with a single focus: making things clear for anyone on reMarkable 3.30.
FYI: The iOS update was approved November 6th and pushed out to you all. The macOS update is still waiting for review.
Why This Update
The recent reMarkable 3.30 beta changed how custom templates load so despite uploading them to your reMarkable they are no longer read and don't appear when picking your template. This affects every template tool, not just Simply Customize It. Before this update a sync on 3.30 looked like it worked even though the templates never appeared. That’s confusing and I didn’t want anyone thinking they’d done something wrong.
What’s New
When syncing, uploading, or cleaning up your templates one small step was added. It checks what version your reMarkable is running and if 3.29 or under it keeps going. Nothing changes.
If your reMarkable is 3.30 or later those template buttons will stop with a short note explaining why and a link to see the latest information.
You can still run One Button Recovery but on 3.30 it skips the template steps, continues on to restore your sleep screen or group of screens, and then lets you know what was skipped.
I've also triggered the What's New sheet to show when you first open the app after update. It still shows the notes from 1.5.0 but includes a message at the top including the link to the blog post. If you want to see it later you can, as always, find it on Profile under “What was the last update?”
What Still Works
Your templates are safe in the app and you can still add and edit them. Sleep screens (and all screens) work just like before. If your reMarkable is on 3.29 or earlier nothing changes and everything runs the way it always has.
What’s Next
I’m not sure yet what the future holds for custom templates. I’ve posted on Reddit, I’m watching what others find, and I’m testing a few ideas on my own devices. Nothing I can promise yet, and some of it may depend on what reMarkable does in the final 3.30 release. I’d love to get this working again, but I don’t want to do anything that can’t be undone.

As I learn more I will update this post (that's linked in the app).
If templates were your main reason for subscribing and you’d like to change or cancel your plan I completely understand. As always, Managing through Apple is linked in the app and here.
Thank you for your patience.
