Simply TBR 1.1.2: Reaching the Right Network
I bought an ebook Humble Bundle the other day and immediately tested out the screenshot import in Simply TBR... then realized I needed to put the books somewhere. I loaded them onto my reMarkable then remembered I had Grimmory... and then realized I should test out the OPDS import in Simply TBR. I'm so glad I did... as this update was the result of it!
OPDS (Grimmory) Connecting
When trying to import the purchased ebooks from my Grimmory collection I realized my phone had somehow switched to a demo link at some point, so I wasn't seeing my new books despite having imported test books before. Long story short while getting that going I also realized, when importing on my phone, it needed to be able to connect to other networks since Grimmory was on my Mac. I've since added networking to the app. The first time you'll import it will ask you to confirm. If you don't give permission and later change your mind just go to Settings, search for Simply TBR, and toggle Local Network on again.
Author Watch
Over the last while I became annoyed at how slow the NetGalley Author Watch was running... I may have over 50 names... most for me and some simply testing if it worked. I realized if I was annoyed you may be too and looked into speeding it up. I'm happy how it turned out! And then applied the fix to both Refresh All Metadata and Fetch Missing Covers too.
And Beyond
I've been working on taking shared code repeated in my apps and putting them in a shared code repository I can import in. This way if I upgrade it for one app they're all upgraded. I figure this will save time down the road... my latest was adding a keyboard dismiss button and there were a few edge cases along the way.
A smaller one but hopefully still a meaningful fix if you use OPDS or NetGalley Author Watch.
Thanks for following along. And like always... I hope you're having a fantastic day.
