Simply Customize It 1.1.1: Answering an Email
This morning I noticed an email where someone had encountered the app crashing twice... once when going through the walkthrough and another when saving the new device. I'm so glad they reached out and supplied me with crash reports as I was able to track down the issue to syncing which was quietly affecting all of you.
What Changed
The Crashes
The crashes traced back to a conflict in how the app was syncing data through CloudKit. The fix involves deleting the conflicted CloudKit zone on first launch after updating and re-exporting everything cleanly. For existing people this happens automatically so you won't notice a thing. Sync will just start working properly.
Uploading Templates
A while back I locked out the upload button until you had first synced or imported your reMarkable templates. I did this as uploading before syncing would have overwritten everything on your device with nothing thereby essentially losing all of default templates.
I realized while walking through the reported crash and onboarding again that syncing or importing from the onboarding flow didn't unlock the button so going to the templates tab you'd still see the upload button locked. This has been updated so going through onboarding now means, to you, the button will never be locked.
To you who emailed in... thank you. It's so much easier to track something down when you have the actual stack trace rather than just a description.
