Simply Customize It 1.4.5: Making Room for the Duo
Apple recently announced a whole new phone and in the midst of testing to see how this performs on the simulator I saw two crash reports sent in. And so 1.4.5 is part fixing and part making sure everything still fits.
Two Crashes Fixed
I've set up a reminder on my phone to check for any submitted crash reports so I can stay on top of anything that might inconvenience you when using the app. Thanks to that the app is now more careful when deleting your unused device when leaving onboarding and when looking up the device you want to use when the app first opens. For the latter it uses a separate ID now and if it ever can't find your chosen device the app simply carries on picking the first one. For people with only one reMarkable connected you won't notice anything different.
Getting Ready for the Duo
When the Apple Duo was announced, there wasn't a simulator yet... so I made my best guess at what the app would need based on the documentation, updated it ahead of time, and then waited to see if there would be more information released. It was and the simulator arrived so I could test the app properly making sure it still looked good and worked on the Duo while not breaking anything on the iPad, iPhone, and Mac.
And Beyond
I also switched the onboarding layout to keep things steadier as you move through it while also updating the shared code between my apps so fixes made elsewhere can help this app too. All small changes you may not notice, and that's kind of the point.
If anything feels off or isn't working the way you'd expect, please reach out. I'd love to hear from you.
Until next time, Kyra 💕
