SimplyKyra Monthly Overview: May 2026
My sister's bachelorette is this weekend (I'll be hanging with them when this lands in your inbox) so I'm writing it a bit early and scheduling it so the month can finish off without me.
Welcome back to the SimplyKyra Monthly Overview!
I know inboxes can get crowded, so this one stays intentionally low-key. If you ever prefer only these monthly summaries (or want to adjust your subscriptions), you can update your settings at the bottom of this email.
🏡 This Month with Me
I've been enjoying the warmer weather while attempting to not get burned. I'm officially a winter person (the PNW was a very intentional choice) but I've been loving the sweater weather mornings and all the blooming flowers, baby birds, and frolicking squirrels that come with it. I've even recorded a splashing bird and some squirrels I'm hoping to turn into a nature video soon.

📱 App Updates
Simply Remember It
When did you last…? Now you know with no second-guessing required.
No new build shipped for Simply Remember It this month. There's been quiet work accumulating behind the scenes but it's not quite ready.
That said, if you've ever wondered whether it might work for you, I recently put out four short videos showing how I actually use it... kickstarting habits, remembering appointment details, tracking tasks I'm working through less often, and check-ins... recurring or just because. If you prefer Instagram check the main reel is here!
Simply Customize It
Make your reMarkable truly yours with custom templates and screens.
One update... that started as an accessibility audit and turned into something bigger. More information here but now onboarding is shorter, browse views have new image toggles, accent colors behave everywhere, and the reMarkable Paper Pure is on the device list.
Plus... I realized this month was two years in the App Store! That combined with some early photos I found became this lookback post: Two Years on the App Store: Where Simply Customize It Started.
Games
There were no new updates for my other apps, Simply Uncover It and Simply Match It, this month, but I always keep an eye on emails and questions coming in… so feel free to keep them coming!
📚On the Blog
If you're ever up in the PNW, in particular Washington state, Thomas Dambo's trolls are always fun to check out. I finally wrote up a post showing all fives in Washington with a quick note of the Portland Oregon one still on my list. Watch the video or check out my post, with photos, here.
My family has also been embracing make your own ramen night lately... shared this life snapshot if you want the details.
💻 Coming Up Next
I've been playing with an Android version of Simply Remember It, though I'll be honest... it's been tough to get into a rhythm with it.
I'm also turning over two other app ideas, both built around doing more of what you actually want to do. One is focused on your TBR (to be read) stack while the other is on a broader hobby library. Still early, but they're rattling around.
If any of those sound interesting, just hit reply and let me know. I'd love to add you to an early list.
And as always, if there's something you love about the apps or something you'd like to see improved or added, reach out. I read every reply.
🌿 Something Extra
We had babies birds at the beginning of the month! I'd been hoping to catch them learning to fly or something but one morning they were just gone... nest is still there just in case, and we still need to clean it up.
Plus I have the odd later video I should really combine into a new video. And iif you want some quicker videos recently I caught a ladybug on a flower and shared some rain in the trees and this heron from back in December.
