Simply Customize It 1.4.3: Tracing a Crash
A few days ago someone emailed me about a reproducible crash. Every time they tried to upload a custom sleep screen to their reMarkable Paper Pure it would crash right after confirming it.
At first I assumed it was something specific to the Pure... but once I got the crash reports I realized the crash happened before the app even connected to the reMarkable... which was even stranger as this was the first time I heard of this issue. And this was the reason for update 1.4.3.
The Upload Crash
Using the crash report I was able to trace where the crash happened and it's now fixed. At least I'm 99% sure it is until I get confirmation it's no longer happening.
Multi-Device & Deletions
Several days before this email I realized while testing the app that if I had a screen, group, whatever open on my Mac... and left it open while working on my phone... and deleted it on my phone the Mac would crash when it synced. That was no good so I made sure it would switch out the display once it realized it was deleted.
And More
While digging into the crash and testing it I noticed some more issues that I needed to fix too. These seemed to mostly be for Mac and included:
- A
PNGappeared to be in portrait mode on the Mac but uploaded in landscape. This led to the Mac now having two resize options, like iOS, and fixing up the messaging when the wrong size or simply rotated the wrong way. - Importing a group works but the confirmation after was supposed to show the new group. This didn't happen if you still had the Profile device details open... so I updated the navigation using my other apps as examples so now it auto-opens when imported regardless what's in the third pane.
- For some reason the text in the screen import and upload dropdown wasn't showing text when closed making it a really confusing button to use. That's now been updated.
- And more minor updates.
