SimplyKyra Monthly Overview: March 2026
Welcome to the March SimplyKyra Monthly Overview. A once-a-month roundup of app updates, blog highlights, and a few extras from behind the scenes. Nothing too serious, just a cozy way to stay connected. π
I know inboxes can get crowded, so this one stays intentionally low-key. If you ever prefer only these monthly summaries (or want to adjust your subscriptions) you can update your settings at the bottom of this email.
π‘ This Month with Me
This month everyone seems to be getting excited for the summer while I instead paused and savored the frosty mornings, enjoyed the new flowers blooming, but also still love the jacket-ish weather.

Also timing worked well this month and I was able to see Project Hail Mary in theaters (we normally stream movies so it's been the first time since taking the kids to Frozen 2 years ago). I'd read the e-arc years ago, absolutely loved it, and love that my algorithm is continuously feeding me more content about it. Waiting for the LEGO kit to ship (backordered), finally justified creating a rebrickable account, ordered a bunny kit, and bought the audiobook.

π± App Updates
March was a busy one on the app side. It started out simple enough with tackling a user email on Simply Customize It before finalizing the first version of shared tasks on Simply Remember It. I've also been using Claude Code alongside Hacking with Swift resources to audit my code more carefully lately and it's been sending me into corners I wouldn't have looked at otherwise. That's what kicked off the cascade later this month which resulted in all four apps being submitted to the App Store within 24 hours from each other.

Simply Remember It
When did you last Now you know with no second-guessing required.
- A Together plan was quietly released so I could start testing shared tracking with my family. It's early but it's there.
- I've been rethinking my onboarding switching the original way to an optional choice and instead showing a library of examples making it a little easier to understand what the app can hold for you right from the start.
Simply Customize It
Make your reMarkable truly yours with custom templates and screens.
In case you missed it a while back I quietly worked on a template builder to create .template custom templates you can upload to the reMarkable. I've noticed some traffic from the page and decided to audit the code to confirm everything still works as expected and the created templates still show up on my reMarkable.
That audit mindset carried into the app itself:
- Near the start of the month I tackled an orientation issue where metadata wasn't being read correctly making it look like an uploaded template was rotated when it wasn't. Thanks for reaching out!
- Later on I made several changes through an audit pass that helped uncovered a circular navigation path on the Screen tab (screens β group β back) that caused a crash. There's now a two-level limit in place, and it no longer crashes.
- Then, in the middle of the other app's updates, another email (thank you) discovered a button was no longer working resulting in another quick update.
Simply Uncover It
A calm, intuitive twist on the classic Minesweeper puzzle.
- I forgot how much I loved Minesweeper when going over the audit. In addition to the backend updates you can now share your final result when the game ends!
Simply Match It
A fast-paced, multiplayer race to spot the match before your friends do.
- The audit led here too. Simply Match It got smoother, sharper, and now has a way to share your score which I think is a nice touch for a multiplayer game.
πOn the Blog
Two really different posts this month so figured I'd share them both.
Friction Mapping: A Kinder Way to Understand Why Things Feel Hard started with a simple reframe: friction isn't a character flaw, it's information. It walks through what friction mapping actually looks like in practice, and there's a free example on the Downloads page if you want to try it.
How I'm Actually Using AI as a Solo Developer (Still Figuring It Out) is the more personal one. It shows where it genuinely helps, where I'm still working out what I think, and why I don't want to automate me out of the system.
π» Coming Up Next
I'm currently keeping an eye on Simply Remember It's task sharing (while typing this I'm waiting on a TestFlight build to confirm a change) and keeping a close eye on my emails.
I've also purchased an android phone and started spending some of my time learning the new system so if you have any requests on Android support let me know. I'm figuring it out. Beyond that if there's something you'd love to see, whether it's a blog topic, a feature idea, or something you've been wondering about, hit reply and let me know... I'd love to hear from you.
πΏ Something Extra
This month I came across the idea that we should bloomscroll rather than doomscroll which stuck with me... so I used a template I had saved from Instagram and the copious amount of flowers on my camera roll to throw this together... these blooms are just from the last one or two years.
A bit ago I tried to record a nature reel.with birds in the background... then this noisy squirrel showed up... thus resulting in this 5+ minute video listening to him squeak. I ended up editing this one and created a slightly different cut with a portrait sized one here.
π A Note on Preferences
