Simply Match It 1.1.1: A Better Welcome
This past month I've been looking more into whether my games supported accessibility and I'm glad I did. The closer examination brought forward some minor issues I'd missed.
Onboarding
Somehow my onboarding screens, for new users, weren't hooked up properly. Additionally, for in-game settings, the sample board wasn't being shown. Now both are there, which changes the first impression significantly.
Accessibility
This one took a few passes. VoiceOver support itself was fine... but for the menu it went through several iterations until I realized the issue was the menu button was on the right and accessibility saw it last on two of the screens. Meaning you couldn't use the menu to get back. Once I switched the side the menu was on it worked properly.
Menu Toggle
That said, in case you don't use VoiceOver and want it on the right, I added a toggle in App Settings so you can choose which side you prefer.
Game Feedback
Beyond VoiceOver I also added toggles in App Settings so you have more control over the haptic feedback (vibrations on correct and wrong answers) and the scoring animation.
Visual Polish
Beyond that it was just general small things that add up to an experience that feels more finished.
Thanks so much for playing Simply Match It! If you have any ideas, suggestions, or just want to say hi, I’d love to hear from you whether by comment below, email at mail@simplykyra.com, or with a review on the App Store.
Happy gaming! Until next time, Kyra 💕
