Simply Match It: Smoother, Sharper, and Now It Can Brag For You

This one snuck up on me a little.

I wasn't planning a big update for Simply Match It, but I decided to audit my code using Claude and started looking around the game more. And with that I started to notice some small things that were bugging me... things like a Mac accent color that wasn't quite right, a subscription button that was misbehaving, some animations that felt flatter than they should. So I started fixing them... and then I added something simple I didn't expect to love as much as I do.

Small Updates

While going through my app I noticed lots of minor changes.

The player buttons are more noticeable than the others. I fixed them up and added a secondary timer (an outline along the edge) that shrinks as the time runs out. On the phone Reduce Motion is also noticed so the animation is a bit more subtle, but still present, when it's turned on.

Other updates are less noticeable but include a button centering in the subscription screen, accent colors not paying attention on Mac, and a handful of smaller things (names, messaging, button layouts) all tidied up.

The Fun Part

The best part... right after I uploaded the new build I saw someone's post on reddit and realized I should add the ability to share when you win... So now when a game ends you can send your results (including player names, final scores, and a link to the App Store) straight to someone. It sends as text so feel free to text it or share in whatever way. It was one of those features that felt obvious once it existed. Winning is more fun when you can rub it in a little. 😄

This wasn't a dramatic release, but it's one of those updates that makes the whole thing feel more intentional. And sometimes that's enough.
