- Description: A PNG image can look perfectly upright on your Mac, iPhone, or iPad... and still appear sideways on your reMarkable. This update fixes that, quietly and automatically, the moment you import the file.

This update fixes an issue where `PNG` images imported from files could appear sideways on your reMarkable... even when they looked perfectly fine within Simply Customize It on your Mac, Phone, or iPad.

## The Discovery

Some `PNG` files carry hidden rotation metadata essentially a small flag that tells apps to `display this rotated`. Most apps read that flag and show the image correctly so visually everything looks fine. Yet when it goes on your reMarkable it's read by it's raw pixel data directly and any rotational metadata is lost... hence why this came up when someone used a template `PNG` that had been exported from a rotated `PDF`. It looked correct everywhere except on the reMarkable. By the way *Thank you so much* for bringing it to my attention.

## The Fix

When you import a `PNG` via the folder/file picker, whether on phone, iPad, or Mac Simply Customize It now checks for this rotation metadata. If it finds any, it normalizes the image automatically, baking the correct orientation into the pixels before saving, and lets you know it did so.

If your images have been displaying correctly nothing changes for you. If you've ever had a sideways template and couldn't figure out why this is likely what was causing it.

## Anything Else?

Simply a couple of quiet internal fixes that don't affect anything you'd notice day to day.

---

As always, thank you for the emails, messages, and quiet *hey, something feels off here* notes... they genuinely help make the app better.
