Simply Customize It: Updated Backend for Edit Forms and Onboarding Refresh
What this means for you
Editing now uses the same explicit draft flow as my new app Simply Remember It. It still works the way you’re used to (nothing saves until you tap Save) but now it only loads the values needed for that screen making the process smoother, faster, and more concise.
Onboarding has been refreshed with simpler text and updated reMarkable-specific screenshots so everything matches the latest device menus. The Fill Values from Photos
button has been updated to see both potential IP addresses.
The Update
Editing Changes
- Draft mode for all editors: Templates, Categories, Screens, Groups, and Users now open in a draft you can review before saving.
- Same behavior you know: No autosave and canceling means nothing gets saved.
- Bug fix: Resolved a rare issue some users encountered when editing.
Fill Value from Photo
- iOS Camera and Photos: Fixed an issue on
iOS
where the app was only showing the Files button and not the camera or photos. You can now capture and import settings directly from your camera for quicker setup. - Secondary Host: Added a second field so if your reMarkable is plugged in the app can now detect both the primary and secondary host without you needing to type it in explicitly.
Onboarding Update
- Clearer copy: Shorter, more direct instructions at every step.
- Updated screenshots: Matches current menus on all reMarkable devices.
- Connection Help (3.22+): WLAN now needs to be on for all reMarkable models, not just Paper Pro. Help text and “Can’t Connect” guidance have been updated.
Looking Ahead
I’m currently reviewing the app with an eye toward making it simpler and more enjoyable to use. If there’s a pain point you’d like me to address or even a feature you love and don’t want changed.... I’d love to hear from you.
And as always, I hope you have an incredible day!
